norton anti virus softwareIs Norton anti virus software worth the money?

Is the Norton Anti Virus program a good value or would the free software(AVG) do just as well? Also what protection should one have for wireless internet service?
Yup
You can also use AVIRA instaead of AVG
I had used Nortons for almost 20 years before giving it up in favor of System Mechanic Pro by iolo.

For a mature product like Nortons, it had far too many conflicts, difficult to uninstall and their tech support was dismal. The final staw was buying a version WinFaxPro that was incompatitble with WinXP even though the box said the opposite and then they wanted another $80 for the version upgrade - a pure rip-off!

I don't know if you will have better luck with AVG as friend just upgraded his and it put his pc into BSOD.

I am not a big fan of MacAfee because of the confusing user inorton anti virus softwarenterface and strange behavior of the program.

Trend Micro has been around for a long time, regularly gets high marks, and is often free with a rebate.
I've tried both Norton and McAfee, and in my opinion they cause more problems than they solve, and are definitely not worth the money. Norton isn't as intrusive and annoying as McAfee, but I would still never waste my money on it.

AVG and Avast provide the same protection for free, using the same virus definitions. And if their free versions don't provide enough bells and whistles, there are commercial versions with more features.
Today there are many free anti viruss programs that work more efficiently than Norton. I highly recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. ( AVG is also a great program, but I like the integration of MSE inorton anti virus softwarento Windows. In regards to wireless internet service, if your speaking of you home router, make sure your router to prompt for a security code (WEP) or a pass phrase (WPA)
AVG would do just as well. That's not to say that AVG is adequate, simply that Norton is not worth the money and I feel sorry for Peter Norton for what selling his name turned into.
HI,

Norton is good, but is very expensive and it will be uses more resources, kaspersky internet security 2011 is better and best security software for internet users.
No. Use AVG it is good and it is free.

anti virus software is only as good as the last known virus, an now the viruses that are being released these days are becoming indestructible that anti virus software can't remove them
